Use This Content Calendar Forever

It can be hard to think up something new to post on your social media day-in, day-out. Creativity and will power can diminish overtime.

Its easier and safer to build a system.

A system that gives you the framework for what to post and how to post it. So when the day comes, you’ve already got a blueprint. You know what kind of post and how it is structured. Way less creativity and energy needed.

So here is a content calendar that you can use forever. Week in and week out. Things will change, and you can post anything you like instead of these when you have weeks where your creativity is flowing or you have something you are excited to share. But this can be your default, this can be what you return to whenever you need a pre-made gameplan.

This is a 5 day calendar with an optional 6th day(or you can take the weekend off from posting). What day you post which idea, doesn’t matter. What matters is that you consistently pump out quality, relatable content to stay top of mind to your followers.

Easily Increasing Your Volume

‘But!’ you say, ‘I thought I was supposed to put out way more content?!" This is only 5 pieces!’ And you would be correct but lets do the happy math of social media:

5 original posts - One each day of the week = 5 posts

Each post shared across Facebook, Facebook Stories, Instagram, Instagram Stories - 5 post x 4 shares each = 20 posts

When you link your facebook page and Instagram account, you can post on all 4 of these mediums within 3 minutes.

We haven’t even talked about Snapchat, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, blog, Instagram reels, or countless other platforms, and already at 20 posts! If you use 2 of those other platforms and share 2 of your 5 posts modified for them:

2 more platforms x 2 posts each = 24 posts

Now you are at 24 posts all from original content, before sharing great content from others, reposting your old content, and with many platforms still not used!

The ‘Use it Forever’ Content Calendar

This calendar template can be used every week, mix up the days, swap things in and out as your weeks change, but you can always come back to this.

The ‘Use it Forever’ Content Calendar

Monday

Client update. Monday is for clients because many agents have busy weekends making progress with clients. Post about some movement with a client, it could be anything: Open house(buyer or seller), contract signed, new client signed up, inspection, walk through, research you did for a client, closing.

Talk about what you did, why you did it, and any insights from it. Don’t sell a listing you have. This is about adding value, not extracting value from your followers.

Tuesday

Your Market. Share an insight about your local market, the more niche the better. A town, zip code, neighborhood, development or even a street. This post doesn’t need to be real estate related, and it’s better if its not. This post will help demonstrate your wide-ranging expertise in the particular area.

Examples:

  • Your favorite sub shop/restaurant/thrift store/etc in your neighborhood

  • Local development plan and its long term effects on housing

  • Local events/relevant news - Its best to attend things you post about every once in a while

  • Highlight a friend, former customer, business owner, etc that lives in the area

  • Share a specific & relatable reason the area is a great to live in

Wednesday

Your Passions. Share something from your personal life.

What are your passions? Running, cooking, reading, crafting, hiking, volunteering your family?

Show your humanity and personality to your followers. You are not a corporate suit, you can build rapport very quickly by leaning into what you love.

Thursday

Client Review. Share a review from a client.

Every time you have a successful client, you should ask for and follow up to get a review. These make excellent content! It is also best to ask if you can use the client’s photo online to add to the credibility of the review.

The post is their review, shortened if need be to fit in the post. The caption can be your review of their time with you, and one specific thing you worked with them on that made their transaction a success.

Example:

Caption: ‘I really enjoyed working with Jim and Jane! They were moving to Northern Virginia for work and needed a place when they arrived. With little time to spare I jumped in drumming up over 10 properties that fit their requests within a few days. I did virtual visits of the home with them, I face-timed them as I walked through the homes, to help them get a feel for the place from even a few states away. We had to put in 3 offers, but by moving fast and narrowing down what they really wanted we were able to get them a place before they arrived!’

Friday

Industry Update. Give your followers an update of what is happening in the industry, this can be at a local, regional, state, or national. Show them you are keeping your ear to the ground, demonstrate your knowledge and expertise.

Examples:

  • A change in practice or law

  • Updates on volume or inventory

  • Changes in consumer demand

  • A change or insight in your specialized listing area(Ex: Arlington launches a new county parks initiative, this could have a positive effect on home prices over the next 5 years)

Weekend

If this has been a lot for you as you start building your brand online, then take the weekend off. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of better. If this was a stretch, take the weekend off guilt free.

If you have more in you, it doesn’t hurt to go for another post. A few ideas:

  • Share a passion that you are working on

  • Share a life update

  • Share a client story or experience like Monday’s post if you have a busy weekend

Summary

We all know, coming up with what to post can be fundamentally challenging. This content calendar provides a repeatable structure, that is general enough to allow for lots of different content, but specific enough to help direct and develop ideas so you can get your digital presence ramped up and running week-in and week-out.
